Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- A fire at the Arbor Creek Apartments on Tuesday displaced six residents. Luckily, no injuries were reported, and firefighters had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. An investigation revealed the cause to be improper disposal of smoking materials. (KATU)
- TVF&R headed to Central Oregon on Tuesday in advance of expected thunderstorms. The firefighters are making a precautionary three-day trip to be on hand to assist local departments in case wildfire does break out. (@TVFR)
- Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls about a trapped skunk Monday night. They were able to free the rodent from a bird feeder where it was stuck, but deputies were sprayed multiple times in the process. The skunk was uninjured and ran off into a local wooded area. (KATU)
- Planning your next bike trip is easier with the Beaverton Downtown Association’s map of existing bike racks. The organization is scheduled to add repair stations downtown in July. (BDA)
- Beaverton Downtown Association announced a new microbusiness program. It’s designed to take advantage of underutilized spaces throughout the area, turning places like garages into spots for small startup businesses, popup vendors and studios. July 30 is the last day for microbusinesses to apply. (BDA)
