The City of Beaverton has a day you don't want to leaf off your calendar.

The city is marking Arbor Day on Saturday April 9 with a celebration by Hall Creek.

Gather at 3771 SW 11th Avenue at 9 a.m.

Beaverton, with Friends of Trees, will be planing 1,530 native plants and shrubs and 12,138 plugs of rush/sedge mix.

It's part of an ongoing restoration project.

Four years ago, Metro Council awarded Beaverton a $354,394 Nature in the Neighborhood grant to help fund restoration of a 650-foot section of the creek from SW 114th Avenue to 117th Avenue.
