Beaverton's American Legion Hosting Veterans Day Celebration

Oregon Secretary of State Jeanne P. Atkins is the keynote speaker at Friday's gathering.

BEAVERTON, OR — The Beaverton American Legion Post #124 is hosting an "11th Hour, 11th Day, 11th Month" Veterans Day celebration this Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. It takes place at the Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ on 5150 SW Watson Ave., adjacent to the Beaverton Veterans Memorial Park.

Oregon Secretary of State Jeanne P. Atkins is the keynote speaker at the event, which will also feature First Lieutenant Ian Beaty speaking and the City of Beaverton Police Honor Guard posting the colors. For a full list of the celebration's events, check out the Legion's program for the day.

The next general meeting for the Legion will be Thursday, Nov. 17. at the Beaverton Activities Center located at 12500 SW Allen Blvd in the small community room.

Beaverton American Legion Post #124 executive meetings take place the first Thursday or every month and Post #124 general meetings are held the third Thursday of every month. Meetings start at 7 p.m. and are usually held at the Beaverton Activities Center.

The New Veterans Plaza

If you haven't seen the new Veterans Plaza, it's worth checking out. Also, don't forget to stop by the recently constructed Veterans Memorial Rose located at the south end of the Veterans Memorial Park.

Retire Your Flag with Respect

Reminder: You can retire old worn U.S. Flags with respect at Post #124’s flag box. Post #124 will see that they’re properly retired.
