BEAVERTON, OR — Two people were hurt, one critically, when a brush fire ignited on the westside of Forest Park in unincorporated Multnomah County Thursday afternoon. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue requested a Life Flight for one of the injured people; the other was taken care of at the scene and chose to forgo an ambulance trip to hospital.
The brush fire was reported just before 3 p.m. Oct. 11 in the 12000-block of Northwest Springville Road. TVF&R fire crews who made it to the scene within minutes of their dispatch arrived to find smoke and flames spreading quickly near a barn.
Firefighters needed to immediately tend to the injured individuals while also preventing the fire from spreading out of control, officials said, noting the dual task management compounded the effort. Additional water-hauling trucks were called in as a result.
