Welcome to the weekend, everybody! The heat hasn't put a stop to news and events around town. This edition features the Governor's end to COVID-19 restrictions, new housing options for those experiencing homelessness in the Aloha area and reduced hours at local farmers markets.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- The city of Beaverton is shutting down vaccination events due to the extreme heat. Virginia Garcia workers at the Tektronix vaccination site would see possible highs of up to 120 inside tents if they stayed operational through Saturday and Sunday. (KPTV)
- Maxine Bernstein reports about computer crime charges against a former employee of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Rylan Keith Albright, 33, allegedly hacked into the organization's computers and sent a 'parody' email to the office's entire mailing list, accusing the sheriff of ignoring racism and calling for his resignation. (OregonLive)
- The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce announced on June 23 that it would rebrand as the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. This move follows the Hillsboro organization indicating its intent to extend its influence to the county level in September 2020. The Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Hillsboro chamber briefly shared leadership in line with this announcement, however, the Beaverton chamber has since returned to operating as a separate entity. - Beaverton-area power provider PGE says it's ready to face an uptick in power usage caused by the heatwave. The organization recommends having emergency supplies on hand in case of an outage. (Beaverton Valley Times)
- Washington County announces that the Aloha Inn will begin serving as temporary emergency housing for those experiencing homelessness beginning in July. Officials will convert the property into permanent low-incoming housing and supportive services in 2022. Officials estimate total project costs will be around $9 million. (Washington County)

Today in Beaverton:
Even though many outdoor events have been canceled because of the heat, there's still lots to do if you're sticking around town this weekend.
- Cedar Mill Farmers Market and Beaverton Farmers Market are both open! Peruse the local fare at Cedar Mill Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Beaverton is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. but may close early, depending on the heat.
- Take a mini road trip to Jessie Mays Community Park in North Plains to hang out with Ghana's own Habiba at an African Dance and Music Workshop. (10 a.m.)
- ¡CompArte! Beaverton City Library Hosts a virtual Spanish-language DIY/maker event for kids grades K-2. Registration required. (11 a.m.)
- Parc Bethany Community Garage Sale— Give new life to secondhand items Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Big Bad Beat Live On Stage— At The Garages hosts a funk/soul/boogie dance band. $12.50 at the door. (7:30 p.m.)
