Greetings! In this edition, you’ll find a few top news items as well as some events to enjoy. Stories include an upcoming end to the state's eviction moratorium, two kids go missing over the weekend (don't worry, they were both okay) and opening night for a nearby artisan market.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Governor Brown reminded residents via Twitter Monday that Oregon’s eviction moratorium will expire on June 30 for renters. In addition to state resources for those facing a housing crisis, Washington County has resources accessible via its site. (Washington County)
  2. Beaverton School District gets more attention for its strategic solutions during remote learning. Reporter April Rubin of the Oregonian profiled Fabian Gomez, one of the key people who help Spanish-speaking families solve their technology problems. A native of Argentina, Gomez worked as a bus driver for BSD until he was called upon to expand his role to bilingual tech support. (OregonLive)
  3. Construction crews broke ground Monday on a $27.5 million project on a section of Southwest Capitol Highway. The improvements will include bike lanes, pedestrian infrastructure and utility upgrades. Expect detours onto Southwest 45th Drive between Southwest Garden Home Road and Taylors Ferry Road. (Fox12)
  4. Local law enforcement reported two kids missing Sunday evening. Beaverton Police tweeted that they were beginning a search for an 11-year-old near Hall Blvd and Greenway, while Washington County Sheriff’s office deputies were looking for a 13-year-old in the Bethany area.   5. Beaverton’s Tektronix announces their annual Innovation Forum will kick off June 16. It will be mostly remote, with speakers logging in from around the world to talk about global trends in engineering and innovation. NASA astronaut Daniel Tani will be the keynote speaker. (Tektronix)
