  1. A waste management truck caught fire Wednesday morning, causing a partial closure of Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue officials attribute the flames to the garbage igniting. The driver was able to get away safely. (KATU)
  2. Last month, Olympic hopeful Shelby Houlihan made the news for blaming a food truck burrito for a positive drug test that got her barred from competition. Reporter Robin Donovan set out to explore three of the likely food trucks that could have triggered a false positive for the Nike runner. The conclusion? Burritos are delicious. (Willamette Week)
  3. Max Egener reports on chamber of commerce drama. A number of Beaverton Chamber members resigned amid discussion about merging with Hillsboro's Chamber, which eventually did not happen. Among the reasons given for the breakup are that Beaverton members wanted their own full-time CEO, staff felt the transition was too challenging and concerns about adequate membership approval of the merger.
