  1. The Beaverton Chamber is lobbying against the Hillsboro Chamber's rebrand as the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Two top officials at the Beaverton Chamber urged a "no" vote for the Hillsboro Chamber's new rebranding plan. The name change is up for a vote by members between July 1 and July 12.   2. Beaverton Police located a missing person yesterday after issuing an alert via social media. An 11-year-old went missing from the Greenway Park area in South Beaverton around 8 p.m. Police located her about an hour after the alert with help from community tips. (KATU and Twitter)
  3. Local teen Aidan Ionis came up with his own small solution to the Portland area's growing homelessness problem. The 16-year-old Mountside High School student started the Giving Bag Initiative in April, donating snacks and hygiene products to the homeless community. Ionis has created a GoFundMe to support his growing organization. (KGW)
  4. The South Cooper Mountain neighborhood is slated to add nearly 400 low-income apartments by 2023. Developers Wishcamper Development Partners and BRIDGE are each developing residential buildings set to break ground this year. BRIDGE is also planning on creating two mixed-use developments nearby.   5. The Washington County heatwave death toll has increased to nine, according to new state figures. Governor Brown released a statement regarding the June 25 to 28 extreme weather event, calling it evidence that "Climate change is real, and it is here." (Pamplin Media Group)
