Another week is coming to an end, readers! Below are some things to get you caught up before your weekend. Ways to stay safe in the heat, places to hear live music and an update on the former attorney who tried to extort Nike for millions are all in today's Digest.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- As temperatures rise this weekend, local authorities remind us to look out for the signs of heat-related illness and dehydration. Dizziness, headaches, nausea and muscle cramps are indications of being overheated. Stay prepared with a way to cool off, such as a cool shower or heading to a local cooling center. - It's official: Despite uncertainty due to the pandemic, Beaverton's Eliana Mason will be participating in the Tokyo Paralympics. Mason attended the International School of Beaverton and started playing goalball at 15. She will play on the US goalball team in July. (Beaverton Valley Times)
- Sentencing was postponed for former attorney Michael Avenatti regarding his conviction for attempted extortion of Nike. Avenatti was arrested in 2017 after threatening to "muddy Nike's name" if the apparel company did not give him millions of dollars. He gained notorotiety when he represented Stormy Daniels in her case against Donald Trump. (OregonLive)
- Hillsboro Hops are teaming up with local business Mobile Tech Inc. (MTI) to support the Sunshine Pantry in Beaverton. Together, they're initiating the "Shut Out Hunger" program and are accepting donations at both of MTI's office locations. They will start accepting donations at the Ron Tonkin Field entry gates June 29 through July 2. (Beaverton Valley Times)
- Lizzy Acker reports on Portland-area Farmers Markets plans for dealing with the heat. As of Thursday afternoon, Beaverton Farmers Market (Saturday) and Hillsboro Farmers Market (Sunday) will still be open, although Beaverton's may close early due to heat. (OregonLive)

Pending improvements include a crosswalk over Laidlaw connecting two sections of the Westside Trail, a crosswalk across busy 185th at SW Jay and adding sidewalks between 185th and 178th on SW Augusta and Sandra Lanes.
