Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announces an expansion to the Mental Health Response Team (MHRT). Until now, the MHRT teammates worked at WCSO and Sherwood Police Department only. Now, the program will include officers from the Beaverton Police Department and other local police departments. (@WCSOOregon)
  2. Missing a garden glove? Beaverton resident Kate Felmet’s feline Esme may be responsible. Images of the cat’s growing collection, pilfered from nearby homes and a park, have gone viral on social media. Felmet reports that Esme does not seem ashamed at all. (KOIN)
  3. A Beaverton Farmers Market fixture gained accolades at the Fiery Food Challenge in Irving, Texas, last week. Danielle’s Sauces’ Chiliyaki sauce won the Golden Chile (first place) in the Asian condiment category, and the company’s Extra Hot Habanero took first in the Hot Sauce/Habanero category.   4. The Washington County District Attorney’s Office says that Ryan Javier Gonzalez, 36, was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday. Gonzalez was convicted of first-degree online sex corruption and two counts of luring a minor following a sting led by Beaverton Police. (FOX)
  5. The latest issue of Oregon Arts Watch recognizes Tualatin Valley Creates’ Arts & Leadership Incubator. The program helps artists in the region find artistic answers, business and leadership skills while connecting them with their community. (@tualatinvalleycreates)
