Hi folks! It's great to be back here for the Beaverton Digest. Below you'll find a few of Thursday's top local news items and events, including the search for a teen who's been missing a week, a new vax site and a chance to break out that thinking cap for trivia night.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Washington County Sheriff's Office alerted the community about a teen missing from the Tanasbourne area last Tuesday. Mianii Webster, 16, left home June 8 and hasn't been seen since. If you have information about her, please contact the sheriff's office at 503-629-0111. (KATU)
  2. Beaverton School District's associate superintendent for business services, Mike Schofield, made remarks about a potential funding gap for the upcoming school year. Oregon legislators contemplated allocating $9.3 billion to Oregon's state school fund, leaving a possible $12 million deficit for BSD. Schofield says the district is prepared to make up the deficit for the short term. (OPB)
  3. Both the City of Beaverton and Washington County made statements regarding the groups' official observance of Juneteenth at their Tuesday evening meetings. Both organizations will commemorate emancipation and the formerly enslaved individuals and their descendants on June 19. (Washington County and City of Beaverton)
  4. The healthcare organization Virginia Garcia announced it would be providing vaccines from Wednesday through Sunday at the Tektronix Campus. They will have both Pfizer (for ages 12 years and up) and Johnson and Johnson vaccines (for those over 18). (@VirginiaGarcia)
  5. Washington County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man on hit-and-run and DUII charges Tuesday morning. Deputies say Kevin Garcia-Pagola, 20, ran away from the scene following a 4 a.m. crash on Highway 26 near the Brookwood Parkway exit. (KATU)
