Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. WSCO deputies arrested Eddy Alvizures of Hillsboro on Saturday after he allegedly shot a gun into an Aloha-area apartment. Alvizures narrowly missed a man sleeping in the apartment by just three feet. The suspect fled on foot and was later picked up by WSCO deputies. (KOIN)
  2. Beaverton goalball athlete Eliana Mason, 25, is headed to the Paralympics this summer in Tokyo. Mason’s team took home the bronze in the Rio De Janeiro games in 2016, and she’s eager to do even better this time around, Gabby Urenda reports. (Beaverton Valley Times)
  3. OregonLive’s latest list of top fish and chips shops in the Portland area includes BG Food Cartel’s The Frying Scotsman. Alongside fried cod, halibut and cod, the cart serves up authentic U.K. dishes, including mushy peas, haggis and the Scottish soda, Irn Bru. (OregonLive)
  4. The Mayor of Saipan thanked “our friend in Beaverton”— Nike HQ and two Beaverton Nike employees— for facilitating a recent donation. The Mayor and his Beaverton friends donated 25 pairs of shoes to a local social service agency. (Saipan Tribune)
  5. Pamplin Media Group’s Amazing Kids Award honors Sunset High School student Maggie Bao, age 16. The award recognizes Bao for persevering in her volunteer efforts despite the pandemic. (Beaverton Valley Times)
