Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. The cities of Hillsboro and Beaverton, along with the Tualatin Valley Water District, are working together to build over 30 miles of large-diameter pipelines, expanding the existing raw water facility in Wilsonville. The project is scheduled for completion next month. Raw water is ready for treatment, either through ultra-purification for industrial manufacturing or simple purification for drinking water. (DJC)
  2. Local employer Vernier Software & Technology announced the release of a new educational e-book and app. The programs are designed to help students learn important physics concepts in both in-person and remote learning environments. (PR Newswire)
  3. After entering the transfer portal, Beaverton High School Alum Sam Noyer announced his commitment to the Oregon State Beavers on Friday. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback formerly played for the University of Colorado Buffaloes. (OregonLive)
  4. Beaverton School District updated the total student and staff cases of COVID-19. As of June 9, there were 20 cases for the entire district, 16 of which were students, and four were staff. Aloha High School takes the lead with eight students and two staff reporting infection. (BSD)
  5. Reporter Joe Vithayathil shares a story about Beaverton-based biohazard cleanup professional Jacob Suarez. Jacob works for Bio One PDX, where he’s tasked with cleaning up the big messes, including hoarder homes, human “by products” and other unpleasantries. Under the TikTok handle Biggie Clean, he compassionately documents the process with videos that attract tens of millions of views and nearly a million followers. (Fox12)
