Pedestrian Fatality: Police Searching For 2 Other Drivers

Beaverton police say Uriel Santiago-Sarabia was hit by 3 cars Monday, but only one of the drivers stopped.

BEAVERTON, OR — Police on Monday responded to a fatal car-versus-pedestrian crash on Tualatin Valley Highway, west of downtown Beaverton. The driver involved has reportedly cooperated with the investigation so far, and police do not believe impairment was a factor.

However, police are searching for the drivers of two other vehicles believed to have also hit the pedestrian after the initial collision. The drivers of those vehicles did not stop and instead continued traveling west, police officials said.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no citations have been issued. The pedestrian was identified as 24-year-old Washington County resident Uriel Santiago-Sarabia.

The crash reportedly occurred between Southwest 160th and Southwest 170th avenues just before 3:30 a.m. Oct. 1. According to Beaverton police spokesman Jeremy Shaw, Santiago-Sarabia was heading south across TV Highway when he was struck by a white Cadillac Escalade that was heading west. After the collision, the Cadillac driver stopped and tried to help Santiago-Sarabia.

Before the driver could, however, Santiago-Sarabia was reportedly hit by two more cars — a large truck and a sedan — that continued heading west without stopping.

Santiago-Sarabia was dead by the time first responders arrived at the scene, Shaw said.
