Prescription Drug Discounts Available for Beaverton Residents

Hillsboro residents now have a chance to deep discounts on prescriptions and other medical services, even services for their pets.

It's a result of Washington County joining the Live Healthy Discounts Program run by the National Association of Counties.

According to the county, the program allows residents to save an average of 24 percent off the retail price of medications and between 15 and 50 percent off the cost of a variety of other procedures including vision services, dental cleanings, diabetes supplies and several lab tests.

"We are proud to join the hundreds of counties around the nation that are participating in the program," the director of Washington County Department of Health and Human Services, Marni Kuyl, said in a release.

"This program can help our uninsured and underinsured residents receive the medication and health care services they need."

The program, which is not health insurance, is available to all Washington County residents, regardless if they currently have insurance.

It is free to register and download a card, which can be used without limit, according to the county. There are monthly or annual fees for the dental an health discounts, though. For the dental and health programs, the monthly fee is $6.95 per month and $8.95 for families. Annualy is $69 for individuals and $79 for families.

The prescription discount program also works for some prescriptions for pets.
