Sheriff Searching For Stolen Pitbull Puppy

Blueberry the American Pitbull Terrier was allegedly stolen from a residence in Banks last November. Police believe she may be in Tigard.

TIGARD, OR — Washington County Sheriff's officials reportedly believe a stolen pitbull puppy may be located somewhere in Tigard. Anyone who sees or recognizes the missing dog is asked to call Washington County's non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.

Sheriff's deputies in November 2017 began investigating the theft of two American Pitbull Terriers, Java and Blueberry, from a residence in Banks. Shortly after beginning the investigation, detectives identified 51-year-old Luis Bonilla as a suspect in the case but were unable to find the two dogs.

Bonilla was cited for misdemeanor theft on Nov. 17. A jury trial has been set to begin in February 2019.

Months later, on May 9, 2018, Java was spotted wandering around near Southwest 90th Avenue and Southwest Oak Street in Tigard. A Tigard resident took Java to a local veterinarian, who used Java's microchip to identify her original owner.

A witness in the area where Java was found reportedly told police they saw a Hispanic man driving around, searching for her. Based on statements reportedly made by the man, police believe he may also have Blueberry.

Blueberry is a 1-year-old pitbull with gray and brindle fur, and white markings on her chest and paws.
