  1. The Cedar Mill News reports on a positive result of distance learning. BSD’s art students were able to use the unprecedented circumstances to explore their creativity with help from engaged and resourceful educators. The Herzog-Meier Senior Art Scholarship Show served as the final milestone for the graduating BSD seniors, which ran June 8 through 13. (Cedar Mill News)
  2. Dwayne Leroy Daan, 42, pleaded guilty to possessing stolen mail and a counterfeit U.S. Postal Service arrow key, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft last week. The Hillsboro man confessed to stealing thousands of pieces of residential mail and using stolen identities to purchase a luxury car. (KPTV)
  3. After nearly a year and a half operating virtually, Washington County community libraries are reopening for in-person services. However, library leadership says many of the changes the libraries made to deal with pandemic life are here to stay. Live, interactive, online kindergarten readiness events, live Zoom conversations with local authors and poets and the 'book a librarian' service are among the popular programs that are likely to continue even as pandemic restrictions lift.   4. Community member Dallas Ransom is joining the Space Force, according to Cedar Mill News. The newest branch of the U.S. military, Space Force is dedicated to protecting national assets in space. Ransom attended Rock Creek, Stoller and Westview before heading to O.S.U. (Cedar Mill News)
  5. Sunset Athletic Club reports on the progress of its new athletic facility, 77 Fitness. The building will provide a supplement for adult fitness, including space for yoga and barre, to the existing club across from Sunset High School. It's slated to open this winter. (Cedar Mill News)
