- A Portland-favorite food window is opening a full brick-and-mortar restaurant in downtown Beaverton. Don Salamone of Burger Stevens will bring Rochester-style Italian dining with indoor and outdoor seating to SW 1st Street around spring 2022. Brooke Jackson-Glidden explores the chef's background and his transition to the burbs in a recent edition of Eater Portland.
- Beaverton School District teachers are getting ready for summer programming. More than 5,000 students across BSD will participate in supplementary classes that start next week and run through the month. The high-demand program selects students based on teacher referrals, with remaining spots open to families. (KGW)
- Daily Journal of Commerce tours the recently opened Beaverton Public Safety Center, showcasing the building's sustainability features, including a pilot batteries program for storing renewable energy. - Washington County and the sheriff's office face a lawsuit on behalf of the girlfriend of a man who was shot by Portland Police in April 2019, Jeb Brock. The plaintiffs contend that Washington County officials should have kept better track of Brock. (Pamplin Media Group)
- Washington County residents are urged to restrict use of fireworks during this hot, dry weather. Officials also request that the 9-1-1 system remain available for reporting only active fires, serious medical problems and crimes in progress.
