'Turn Your Key, Be Idle Free': BSD Shares PSA On Car Idling
Kids implore viewers not to idle their cars while dropping off or picking up students from Beaverton schools in a new Facebook video.

BEAVERTON, OR — If you let your car idle while waiting to drop off or pick up your student from school in Beaverton, the school district has a message for you: Stop it.
The Beaverton School District on Monday shared a video on Facebook featuring a variety of Beaverton students sharing facts about car idling and vehicle pollution, and the effects they have not only on the environment but on children and even the drivers themselves.
From how many pounds of pollution is released each day by the average car in our region to the fact idling for 10 seconds uses more gas than turning off and restarting an engine — as well as the consideration that exhaust levels created by idling are higher inside a car than outside of it — the students provide plenty of factoids to make any car owner think.
