More than 20 languages are represented at the Beaverton City Library, which will host a celebration reception Friday, April 14.

BEAVERTON, OR – After receiving a grant from the Library Services and Technology Act, Early Learning of Washington County helped to increase the Beaverton City Library’s supply of children’s books in a variety of world languages.

Provided with $40,000, the library purchased materials in several languages for children aged 6 years and younger, as well as a small collection of parenting books. The languages represented in the new book purchases include Arabic, Chinese, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

"We are proud to strengthen our world language collections with this grant," said Beaverton City Library director Abigail Elder in a statement. "This allows us to better serve our diverse community."
