When Can You Buy Marijuana Edibles? June 2

The Oregon Health Authority has issued a bulletin detailing what you can buy and what retailers can sell.

The Oregon Health Authority wants you to know - with less than a month to go before marijuana edibles and extracts can go on sale - that there are certain rules everyone has to follow.

Starting June 2, among other things:

  • You can walk into a medical marijuana dispensary that is licensed to sell to recreational customers and buy one low-dose marijuana infused edible per day;
  • You can buy one pre-filled cartridge of extract that could be inhaled with a portable vaporizer once a day;
  • You can buy topical products like lotions and palms.

The dispensaries also have rules to follow. They must:

  • Verify that the individual purchasing the limited marijuana retail product is age 21 and older by examining the individual’s photo ID.
  • ï‚· Only sell one quarter ounce of dried leaves and flowers to a retail customer in one day.
  • ï‚· Only sell four immature marijuana plants to the same individual through December 31, 2016.
  • ï‚· May not give away, provide free samples, or otherwise give or share any marijuana products, including concentrates, extracts, edibles and topicals, to retail customers, inside or outside of the dispensary.
  • ï‚· Must continue to record Oregon Medical Marijuana Program cardholder information: name, card number, expiration date and a copy of the person’s picture identification.
  • ï‚· Must document for each limited marijuana retail product sold: • The limited marijuana retail product that was sold
    • The amount in metric units or number of sold
    • The birth date of the individual who bought the product, as well as the sales price and sales date.
