'Youth Pastor Wanted Sex With Teen,' Beaverton Police Say

BEAVERTON, OR — Ryan Christopher Mutchler, a former youth pastor from Mountain Park Church in Lake Oswego and short-term marching band assistant at Aloha High School, was arrested earlier this month after Beaverton police reportedly learned he was trying to have a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he met at a church camp in June.

Mutchler, 30, was taken to Washington County Jail and charged with the online sexual corruption of a minor and luring a minor. He has since been released on bail.

Beaverton police were first called by the minor girl's parents after they observed some kind of alarming behavior on their daughter's phone. It's unclear what specifically was said, but it was apparently enough to merit an investigation.

Communicating with Mutchler over several days, an undercover Beaverton detective reportedly obtained evidence of Mutchler's desire to have sex with the girl. Beaverton police say they met at a church camp held between June 24 and 30.

Mountain Park Church Senior Pastor Greg Borror on Monday confirmed Mutchler is no longer on staff at the church, indicating Mutchler's termination was formally confirmed the day following his arrest.

However, due to Mutchler's previous access to children, police suspect there may be more victims. Anyone with information about Mutchler's alleged illicit activities is encouraged to call Beaverton police at 503-629-0111.
