PORTLAND, OR- There are plenty of places to grab your daily dose of caffeine in Portland. From quirky local coffee houses to French inspired cafe's with fresh baked pastries and latte's. Take a look at some of these local artisan places, pick a place and let them pour you a cup.

  • Heart Roasters is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday. They pride themselves in brewing high-quality coffee drinks on professional machines. Their beans come from fair trade, all-organic vendors and they specialize in 'green' coffee from South America, Central America and Africa. Their brew recipes are available to the public, so you know exactly what is going into your coffee.

  • Spella Cafe is a petite, french inspired cafe that offers delicate pastries and complicated coffee drinks delivered by a hardworking staff. Their barista team calls themselves 'best friends' and pride themselves on friendly service. They're open from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

  • Water Avenue Coffee opened its doors in 2009, and is respected in the Portland community for the exotic coffees they brew on high-tech Proaster coffee machines. Their beans are available for purchase at wholesale prices, so you can brew your own Water Avenue Coffee at home. Water Avenue prides itself on forging strong relationships between baristas, roasters and farmers. They're open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

  • Stumptown Coffee is open Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and they host public tastings at 3 p.m. Most likely, Stumptown supplies two or more of the coffee shops listed above with their beans. They offer drip-coffee, espresso drinks, brew-by-the-cup and cold brew, and pastries from Roman Candle Baking Company and have been a fixture of the Portland community since they opened up shop in 1999.

  • Coava Coffee Roasters is open weekdays from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. and weekends from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Their coffee program specializes in developing all-organic, fair trade coffees from impoverished areas in South America, providing jobs to the people of Portland in an experimental, lab-like environment. Coava offers no-frills coffee-there are no flavor-shot or extra espresso options. Just fair-trade coffee, straight from the farm.

  • Either/Or is a different coffee experience, offering flights of espresso and custom coffee drinks for Portland locals to try. They make their own handmade coffees, syrups and sodas in-house, as well as fresh baked pastries. Their brewing facility boasts multi-roasters, to keep the coffee flowing all day. They're open from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily.

  • Portland Roasting Coffee boasts several different whole bean coffees that they brew in-house. Since their opening in 1996, they've maintained relationships with local coffee houses and organic farmers in the area so that they can provide fair-trade, sustainable coffee to the Portland community. Their mission, as stated on their website, is to "Create positive human connections through coffee by building a socially responsible business." They're open from 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily.

  • Revolucion Coffee House Downtown Portland offers Mexican inspired coffee beverages like Orchata and Mango Chai. They are open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m and host a happy hour, Monday - Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. during which you can pick up pastries at a 25 percent discount. Revolucion prides itself in being the First Mexican coffee house in Portland and its founder, Maria Garcia brings her own Southern California flare to the coffee.

  • Five Points Coffee Roasters is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Previously known as Coffee Division, Five Points has a gritty, industrial aesthetic. Their menu consists of seasonal, single-blend coffee from different places around the world. They are well-known for the complex espresso blends; one popular option consists of Washed Guatemala, Washed Colombia and Dry Ethiopia. Efficient and affordable, Five Points is on the fast track to becoming an iconic Portland coffee spot.
