10 Portland Restaurants Open on Thanksgiving

French, American and Peruvian takes on Thanksgiving tradition take over PDX this Turkey Day.

PORTLAND, OR — While many people take pleasure in cooking dinner on Thanksgiving, there are just as many Turkey Day fans who'd prefer to enjoy their time off and eat out rather than stay in and cook. The following restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day and many of them have special Turkey Day surprises for you.

  • Andina is taking Thanksgiving reservations for a Peruvian three course prix fixe menu. Chef de Cuisine Yen Tejada is creating a meal that will put a Peruvian inspired twist on the holiday turkey, served alongside traditional dishes. Guests will be seated between 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. There will be live music throughout the evening.

  • Bread and Ink Cafe will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner from noon - 8 p.m. The prix fixe dinner includes an appetizer, soup or salad and entree and dessert. Bread and Ink Cafe is a Portland institution. They've been around for almost 30 years. Check them out at the corner of 36th and SE Hawthorne.

  • Clarklewis will be open on Thanksgiving Day and they strongly recommend booking a reservation. Among the featured entrees are free range turkey, beef tenderloin, seared ling cod and acorn squash ragu. Clarklewis believes in the farm-to-table food movement, creating Northwest cuisine with Italian and French influences.

  • The Country Cat will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner from 2 - 7:30 p.m. They are offering a four-course prix fixe menu featuring classic Thanksgiving dishes. They're taking reservations for parties of 2-10 people. The Country Cat is run by the husband-and-wife culinary team of Adam and Jackie Sappington. They focus on American craft cooking and are also a farm-to-table establishment.

  • Headwaters at the Heathman will be serving breakfast, a buffet, and dinner ala carte. "It's going to be our regular menu with a lot of specials and we're going to have Thanksgiving options as well," a representative from Headwaters at the Heathman told Patch. The property on which Headwaters at the Heathman sits is really something else -- it was constructed in the early Twentieth Century and is listed in the National Historic Register.

  • Higgins Restaurant and Bar will be serving a five-course dinner from 1 - 7:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. "It's different from our usual menu," a representative from Higgins Restaurant and Bar told Patch. "There will also be several choices from the bar menu throughout the day as well."


  • Mother’s Bistro and Bar will be open for the first part of Thanksgiving Day. "We’ll be open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.," a representative from Mother's Bistro and Bar told Patch. "It’ll be our regular brunch menu."

  • Paley’s Place will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 2 – 8 pm. There Autumn 2016 menu such raw items as American wagyu beef tartara, chilled oysters on the half shell and Nantucket Bay scallop ceviche. Their house charcuterie includes canadian bacon, duck rillette with foie and prosciutto or pork, raisin and cherry terrine.

  • Radio Room will be open all day and night on Thanksgiving from 9 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. They will be serving a special brunch menu and dinner until 11 p.m. with a happy hour menu from 11 p.m. - 2 a.m. They are now taking reservations of any size.

  • Verdigris is a French-inspired restaurant that is open on Thanksgiving Day. Call them at (503) 477-8106 to book a reservation. Yet another popular Portland restaurant owned by a married couple (there are a lot of those in the area), co-owners Johnny and Kristina Nunn use modern and traditional techniques to create an ever-changing menu.
