Barcelona Attack Just Misses Oregon State Men's Basketball Team
"We're all in good shape," an emotional coach Wayne Tinkle said in a video the team posted on Twitter.

The trip to Barcelona for the Oregon State men's basketball team quickly became memorable for all of the wrong reasons. The team had left Corvallis for Barcelona on Monday as part of a 13-day tour of Europe.
On Thursday, as the team was having its pre-game dinner at its hotel on Las Ramblas, a white van jumped the curb of the sidewalk and started veering into pedestrians, hitting as many as possible. In the end, 13 people were dead, more than 100 injured.
"Literally looking out our window, we won't show you pictures, but some horrific sights," head coach Wayne Tinkle said in a video the team posted on its Twitter page. "Several fatalities within eyesight of our hotel room."

Tinkle said the team is not giving any interviews at this time.
"I know people back home are concerned, but I don't think they understand the gravity of what happened," he said. "We're all in good shape."

Beaver strength and conditioning coach Jeff Macy wrote on Twitter that he and his wife were separated at the time of the attack and she was kept safe by a local shop owner.

"Unfortunately we were way too close to today's events," Macy wrote. "She was kept safe by a local store owner. Due to the lockdown situation around our hotel, we are not going to be able to be reunited tonight.
"She is being taken care of by the store owner's family tonight. We will find a way to get back together in the morning."
Macy said the store owner was just one example of the city's residents reaching out.
"Even in these tragic times the beautiful people of Barcelona have opened their arms, hearts and now homes to protect their guests and comfort us during this dire time.
"What we saw today can never be unseen, but I will be forever grateful for what the people of Barcelona have done for us."
Macy ended by saying "most importantly, our prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones."
The team's game Thursday night against Mataro Parc Boet was canceled after the attack.
There are more than 41 players, coaches, staff and others from Oregon State on the trip.
The Beavers are scheduled to leave Barcelona on Friday and play Saturday against Combinado Valenciano, the first of four games the team is scheduled to play between Saturday and next Friday.
The school has not yet decided whether to proceed with the tour.
Other schools, including Arizona and Clemson, are also in Spain on similar tours. Arizona has cut their tour short and is headed home.
