Barrel Room Bartender Sued By Barrel Room Over OLCC Action

Barrel Room is suing a bartender to get back money they say they will lose when forced by OLCC to stop selling liquor for three weeks.

PORTLAND, OR – The Barrel Room is set to close for three weeks later this month. It's a move that they say will cost them $115,000. The place wants one of their bartenders to cover that tab.

Why? Barrel Room says that in Jan. 2018, bartender Gunnar Jorstad was drunk on the job, leading to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission to suspend their liquor license for three weeks.

To get the money, the Old Town bar is in court, suing Jorstad.

It was Jan. 13, 2018. A police officer saw Jorstad outside the bar, visibly intoxicated.

Other officers were called to the bar later that night to remove Jorstad.

OLCC says that in addition to taking action against Barrel Room, they suspended Jorstad's license for 18 days after he chose not to fight the allegation.

Barrel Room's suit says that they want Jorstad to pay the $115,000 over 21 days. They say that's the amount they will lose from not being able to alcohol.

Jorstad had not yet responded to the suit, which was first reported by the Oregonian.
