Boys & Girls Club Gets $50K Grant To Support Programming

The grant from United Way World Wide and Comcast NBCUniversal will help support programs at all 7 of the club sites across the metro region.

HILLSBORO, OR — United Way World Wide and Comcast NBCUniversal this week presented a $50,000 check to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area as part of a promotional event for the forthcoming NBC Sports' documentary, "Fair Play: Youth Sports in America."

Given to Boys & Girls Club representatives at Fair Play Day on June 18, at the Inukai Boys & Girls Club in Hillsboro, the $50,000 grant will be shared by all seven Boys & Girls Club locations in the metro region to continue providing opportunities for youth to get out and play.

“This grant will help fortify our Club programming focused on physical health and activity," Portland Metro Boys & Girls Club CEO Erin Hubert said in a statement. "Youth today don’t always have access to physical activities during the school day. This funding will be dedicated to providing equitable access to physical activities and sports at our seven sites across three Portland-Metro counties.”
