F-15 Makes Emergency Landing In Portland After Gear Issue Found

The F-15 had left Portland on Wednesday morning, only to discover a gear issue. That forced an emergency landing. There were no injuries.

PORTLAND, OR – Tense moments at Portland International Airport on Wednesday afternoon as a F-15 was forced to make an emergency landing. The plane had taken off from PDX earlier in the morning.

The 142nd Fighter Wing operates out of the Oregon Air National Guard base at the airport.

The pilot, who had been on what was supposed to be a routine training flight, radioed at 8:46 a.m. that the plane was experiencing a gear issue and an emergency landing would be necessary.

Before landing, the pilot attempted some troubleshooting that was ultimately unsuccessful.

Just after 12:30 in the afternoon, the pilot landed on runway 28-L at the airport. There were several emergency vehicles there to greet the plane.

The pilot – the only person on board – was not injured.

The fighter wing has not yet elaborated on what caused the problem but they are investigating.
