The TSA says that during the first 11 days of November, it found 139 firearms in carry-on bags at 70 airports. More than 100 were loaded.

PORTLAND, OR – No matter how many times people are told they can't bring a loaded gun on airplanes, some people are apparently not getting the message. In the first 11 days of November, 139 guns were found in carry-on bags at 70 different airports.

The Transportation Security Administration says that, of those, 122 were loaded and 59 even had a round in the chamber.

You can see a list of all guns discovered during the first 11 days here at the TSA website.

"In most cases, passengers say they forgot the item was in their bag," the TSA says on its website. "This can lead to a citation and, in some cases, arrest. Unfortunately, this happens far too often.

"Our goal in sharing these finds is to remind travelers to check their bags and the rules before heading to the airport."

The TSA adds that besides guns, airline passengers can't bring anything that resembles an explosive device in their carry-on luggage.

Two apparent grenades were found in a carry-on bag in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While they were determined to be inert training devices, the checkpoint had to be closed for 23 minutes.

Bringing a firearms through a security checkpoint can bring a civil penalty of up to $13,333 – more if the person with the gun is a repeat offender.
