Thanksgiving is approaching, and some people won't have enough to eat. See which food banks need donations in Portland.

PORTLAND, OR - The Portland area has several food banks that require donations from the community in order to feed the hungry this Thanksgiving. Learn how you can provide assistance by donating food, hosting a food drive or simply adding an extra dollar to your grocery bill.
- Oregon Food Bank is one of the largest food banks in the Pacific Northwest, and Thanksgiving is a great time to donate. Before deciding to drop-off some canned goods, take a look at their most wanted foods as well as the goods they cannot accept. In addition to donating food, you can also host a Food & Fund drive which raises both money and awareness about hunger in Oregon. It's open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.

- Sunshine Division is a nonprofit food bank in North Portland. It's open Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. If you'd like to donate to Sunshine Division, you can drop off items during regular work hours. Their most needed items are cereal, canned fruit, dry or canned beans, tuna fish, rice, fresh or frozen meat, and any canned dinners.

- The Pongo Fund is Oregon's Pet Food Bank. They provide families who can no longer afford to feed their pets with the food. The Pongo Fund prevents families from having to surrender their pets to overcrowded shelters. Learn how to get help for your pet, or donate to the Pongo Fund. The Food Bank is open from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m-the remaining 2016 dates are November 27, December 11 and December 25.

- PACS Food Pantry differs from other local food banks because it provides families with fresh produce in addition to nonperishable goods. They also have a mobile food bank as well, known as the PACS Commodities On Wheels (COW) Mobile Pantry. By mobilizing their services they are able to provide more people in Portland with groceries, such as the elderly or those with disabilities. It's open from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Monday - Friday.

- Portland Rescue Mission provides both food and shelter to the people in Portland who are in need. Thanksgiving is approaching and Portland Rescue Mission has a growing list of items needed, ranging from Cream of Onion soup to shampoo. If you aren't able to make it to the drop-off donation spot, Portland Rescue Mission has a Add a Meal program. By shopping at participating grocery stores, like the New Seasons Market, you can feed a hungry person on Thanksgiving for only $1.60.
