Have A Beer While Supporting The Oregon Humane Society

The Station Bar & Grill is donating $1 for every Lagunitas beer pint sold to the Oregon Humane Society every Thursday for the next month.

PORTLAND, OR — Do you love drinking beer and helping animals in need? "Pints for Pups" is a partnership between The Oregon Humane Society (OHS) and The Station Bar & Grill in which the neighborhood pub donates one dollar to the Humane Society for every Lagunitas pint sold every Thursday from 4 - 10 p.m. through Oct. 13.

The Station has a patio with a "dog entrance around back" and happy hours lasting from 4 - 6:30 p.m every day. The Station, located at 2703 NE Alberta St., prides itself on being "Alberta’s most dog-friendly restaurant and patio."

David Lytle, public affairs manager at OHS, told Patch that The Station reached out to the Humane Society regarding helping out. "A lot of groups do that," Lytle said. "They want to do something for their pets."

Dogs are "always welcome" at The Station, and the restaurant provides a number of dog amenities, including doggy treats, water bowls, doggy bandanas, umbrella-shaded patio tables, and a clean environment with doggy waste bags.

Lytle told Patch about two more Humane Society events happening this October. First the nonprofit animal shelter will be featured on KATU, Oct. 6 for the 17th Annual Oregon Humane Society telethon.

"You’ll see pets and interviews with OHS people and fascinating stories," Lytle said. "That’s always a fun thing."

The Bow Wow Film Festival also comes to Portland on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Hollywood Theater with all proceeds benefitting OHS. The annual event features short films centered on dogs with a focus on the belief that "treating all creatures with respect is not just good for creatures but makes us better humans." The Oregon Humane Society "rescues, heals and adopts more than 11,000 pets each year." Check out The Oregon Humane Society's events calendar for a number of upcoming events, including adoption opportunities.

OHS and The Station will be hosting the final Pints for Pups of the season on Thursday, Oct. 13 with an End of Summer Party. There will be live music and a doggy raffle prizes.
