Pit Bulls in Portland: Pit Friendly Businesses & How to Adopt Your Own
Lovers Not Fighters Pit Bull Rescue also shares the winners of their 'pibble' decal contest.
PORTLAND, OR — Lovers Not Fighters, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for homeless, neglected, abandoned and abused pit bulls and pit bull type dogs, has compiled a great list of pit friendly businesses and services around the Portland area.
The nonprofit also strives to "educate and bring about positive awareness to these breeds through community outreach and education."

Interested in fostering or adopting a pit bull?
The Lovers Not Fighters website includes a section where you can apply to adopt or foster a pit bull. There are a few things to keep in mind if you're thinking of fostering or adopting a pibble:

- You have to be 21 and older
- Yards must be 100% secure with a 6' fence. If you're doing work to improve your yard, the group is open to hearing your plan to keep your dog safe in the meantime.
- You have to fill out the application before meeting with one of the dogs. Lovers Not Fighters doesn't have a public facility and filling out the application helps foster moms and dads ensure that your home would be a good fit for adopting or fostering a pup.
Lovers Not Fighters announces pibble decal contest winner
Portland nonprofit Lovers Not Fighters Pit Bull Rescue recently ran a contest to decide a new color for their weatherproof pibble decals. For the uninitiated, pibble is another term for pit bull. Words like "pibble" and "pittie" aim to take away some of the negative connotations that can sometimes be associated with pit bulls.
The new pibble decal color choices included: white, grey, silver and gold. The winner was "white." Check out the Facebook embed below to get more info on the new decals:
