Hope Solo Gets a New Shoulder

Under suspension, the acclaimed goalkeeper undergoes shoulder replacement surgery.

Faced with some unexpected time off, acclaimed goalkeeper Hope Solo said she decided to make the most of the opportunity - she underwent much needed shoulder replacement surgery.

"An opportunity presented itself after my contract was terminated and while difficult, it opened the door to take care of a long overdue surgery," the suspended star of the United States Women's National Team wrote on Facebook.

Solo was suspended for six months following her comments during the Rio Olympics when she referred to the Swedish team as "cowards."
