Judge Drops Negligent Wounding Charge Against Former Portland Police Chief
Former Portland Police Chief Larry O'Dea is no longer facing a charge for reportedly shooting his friend while hunting last April.
A former Portland police official who reportedly shot a friend during a hunting trip last year is now free from the negligent wounding charge that stemmed from the incident.
A judge dismissed the charge Friday against former Portland Police Chief Larry O'Dea, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.
"O’Dea’s attorney says Harney County Judge William Cramer accepted a civil compromise in the case Friday," the story said. "The shooting victim, Robert Dempsey, previously told the court that he didn’t wish to prosecute the former police chief. "
