Meals On Wheels People Gear Up For Thanksgiving

The food delivery and nutritional assistance organization will deliver 1,800 Thanksgiving dinners and host 2 community gatherings this month

PORTLAND, OR — With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, Meals on Wheels People reminds the community the organization will deliver more than 1,800 hot turkey dinners and host a community Thanksgiving dinner at two locations later this month.

Hosted by St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, the two meals will be held between 11:30 a.m and 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Elsie Stuhr Center, 5550 S.W. Hall Blvd. in Beaverton, and at the Tigard Senior Center at Portland Community College, 8815 S.W. O'Mara St. in Tigard. Dinner guests will receive the traditional fixings, including roast turkey and gravy, cranberry relish, bread stuffing, mashed taters, yams, pumpkin pie, and more.

"A traditional holiday meal with turkey and all the trimmings will be delivered by volunteers to our most frail and isolated seniors on Thanksgiving Day," Meals on Wheels People Executive Director Suzanne Washington said in a statement. "We are so grateful for the community volunteers who spend part of their holiday making the day brighter for these seniors."
