Moonstruck Chocolate Recalls Sea Salt Caramels Because Of Nuts

Moonstruck Chocolate says that hundreds of bags of their Sea Salt Caramels sold around the country are being recalled because of hazelnuts.

PORTLAND, OR – Moonstruck Chocolate, the iconic Portland, Oregon, chocolate company, is recalling hundreds of bags of Sea Salt Caramels Tumbled in Milk Chocolate that have been sold around the country. The problem is that the the chocolates may have hazelnuts, which are not listed on the package.

The company notified the Food and Drug Administration of the problem.

Moonstruck says that 600 4-ounce bags were sold around the country in retail stores, online, and by direct delivery between Nov. 28, 2018 and Dec. 11, 2018.

While there have been no reports of people getting sick, the company does not want to take any chances.

The chocolates were sold in individual resealable plastic bags. Their product number is 312235 and the UPC code is 7 11175 12235 9.

Moonstruck says that they were also sold in cardboard box of 8/4 oz. bags. The box has the SKU number 312235 and the UPC code 10711175122356.

The affected best by dates found on both 4 oz. bags and cardboard boxes are 11/12/2019 and 11/13/2019. The affected lot numbers are 1094276 and 1094275.

The FDA says that people with questions may contact Moonstruck Chocolate Company at 800-557-6666 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time from Monday through Friday.
