Oregon Has Good Tax News For You Next Year, A Kicker Seems Likely
A new report from the state has something unusual for Oregonians – good news about taxes. Oregon says that a kicker is expected next year.

PORTLAND, OR – Here's something different for you – good news about your taxes. A new government report says that Oregonians can expect a kicker next year.
The kicker, a tax rebate created by voters by ballot measure in 1980, dictates that when state revenues exceed the forecast from state economists, people and corporations get money back. It's been triggered 10 times since being enacted.
The March 2019 Oregon Economist Forecast from the state's Department of Administrative Services predicts a surplus of $748 million for the personal kicker and $353 million for the corporate.

The forecast cautions that the numbers could change before May 15 when the final forecast for legislative session is released.

The kicker it used to be a check for individual taxpayers and corporations but is now a tax credit for individuals while the corporate kickback goes to help fund K-12 education in the state.
If it holds, it will be welcome news to taxpayers.
The report says that by the of the end of February, Oregon taxpayers were seeing refunds 11 percent lower than last year, "in part due to no kicker being paid out."
