Person Thought Killed By Car, Was Suicide From Burnside Bridge
The suicide snarled traffic for hours. The name of the victim, and what might have led to it.

PORTLAND, OR – A man jumped to his death from the Burnside Bridge early Tuesday morning. Police originally thought that the person was a pedestrian who died after getting hit by a car.
It happened around 9 a.m. by the Burnside Bridge.
Police say that it happened as a vehicle was heading off the ramp to southbound I-5 from westbound I-84. That driver is believed to have thought himself responsible for death. It was only after investigation that the police realized the person had already been dead.

Police said that the ramp was closed for several hours while the investigation took place.
