PORTLAND, OR – The 43 chickens who had flown the coop and crossed the street to hang out in the Pearl District last Saturday night are ready for adoption. Multnomah County Animal Services say that they will be available beginning Saturday morning.
Portland Police had rousted the roosters and hens and turned them over to the Oregon Humane Society, which cared for them overnight before Animal Services took them on Sunday.
The person or persons who committed the fowl act of letting the chickens go has not been found.

That means people living in the cities of Multnomah County – and other large cities in the area – are more than likely excluded as most cities have ordinances prohibiting ownership of roosters.
The roosters are described as all young, "friendly to handle, and surprisingly cohabitate really well!"
The organization has given names to many of them, including Cluck Norris, Hei Hei, Russell Crow, Dr. Pecker, Big Red, Cogburn, and Cluck Rogers.
