PCC collects nearly 12,000 personal protection equipment items to help healthcare workers

The Oregon Health Authority and Governor Kate Brown, as part of an executive order, has asked professional organizations and the private sector to slow down their usage of personal protection equipment (PPE). If organizations are able to donate supplies to help the state, the state is more than happy to take them.

Portland Community College has answered that request. The college has boxed up PPE collected from a variety of its healthcare Career Technical Education programs — Vet Tech, Dental, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing and more. The donations will be given to Oregon’s doctors and nurses helping COVID-19 patients and others.

In total, PCC has collected 11,427 items for donation, including 10K pairs of gloves, 450 exam tissues and 245 caps.
