Portland Forecast Of Snow Brings Appeal From Union Gospel Mission

With the temperature dropping and the possibility of a lot of snow on the way, Union Gospel Mission is looking for winter clothes donations.

PORTLAND, OR – It's getting colder. The forecast says that there may be a lot of snow in the future. There are a lot of unsheltered people who are going to be vulnerable.

Union Gospel Mission wants to help them and would like your help in the effort.

The organization is looking for winter coats, hand warmers, blankets, boots, and coffee as the first of what may be a series of storms moves in this weekend.

"The snow and cold temperatures are dangerous and life threatening," according to a spokesman for the mission.

"It costs about $16 to provide a night of emergency cold weather, which includes a hot breakfast, and clothes and gear needed to help the homeless survive a winter storm."

Union Gospel says that donations can be dropped at 3 NW Third Avenue in Portland and online at www.ugmportland.org.
