Portland Man Jailed After Police Say He Attacked A Paramedic

Police say that a man jumped into an ambulance and attacked a paramedic on Monday. The paramedic was not seriously injured.

PORTLAND, OR – A man was arrested on Monday afternoon after police say that he jumped in an ambulance and attacked a paramedic. Jeremiah James Ray faces is charged with assault.

Police say that around 1:10 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to Southwest 5th Avenue and Sherman Street after dispatch told them that medics had called for emergency help from the police.

At the scene, they found a paramedic in the ambulance suffering from stab wounds. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The paramedics said that they had been in the ambulance, sitting at a red light, when the man – since identified as Ray, opened the door and got into a fight with the paramedic.

He then fled.

Police caught Ray a few blocks away.
