Portland Weekend Forecast Sees Rain Coming, But It's A Good Thing

PORTLAND, OR – It's likely going to rain a lot this weekend in Portland and the surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service's office here. While it may not be fun, there's definitely a silver lining on the many clouds that will be over the area.

First, Thanksgiving has come and gone, it's the end of November, and the area has an amazing run of sunny, cloudless skies. It's gone on far longer than anyone has expected.

Second, all of Oregon is in drought or near-drought conditions. There's only a tiny part of the northeast part of the state that is simply "abnormally dry" as opposed to being considered in moderate drought or worse.

Portland and the immediate area are considered to be in severe drought, according to the National Weather Service's Portland Office.

So, what does the forecast hold for the weekend?

FRIDAY

The National Weather Service sees rain followed by showers and a chance of showers at night. The low will be 40 degrees and the 49 degrees.

SATURDAY

The weather should be better. The forecast says partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and just a regular chance of showers at night. The low will be 40 degrees with a high expected to reach 48 degrees.

SUNDAY

Not so great. There's a chance of showers during the day followed by a chance of showers at night. The good news is that the weather will be slightly higher. The low will be 43 degrees and the high is expected to reach 50 degrees.
