Téada at Aladdin March 14 for St Patrick's kick-off concert

Exciting Irish band features champion step dancer Brian Cunningham

Direct from Ireland, Téada kicks off St Patrick's Day in concert at the Aladdin Theater in Portland on Saturday, March 14th. Known for their fierce, exciting Irish music, the band plays with "boundless energy and bare-knuckle fiddling" says The Irish Times. Téada will also appear in Lincoln City on March 15, and in Corvallis on St Patrick's Day itself, Tuesday March 17.

Champion Irish dancer Brian Cunningham will be the band's special guest, called "the Michael Flatley [Riverdance star] of sean-nós dancing" (RTE-TV). Hailing from Connemara and raised within the family tradition, Brian is considered the most exciting sean-nós or 'old-style' dancer to have emerged from Ireland.

Téada ('strings' in Irish) first linked up in 2001 for an innovative Irish TV show, as a group of like-minded young musicians inspired by a deeply traditional approach. Led by Sligo fiddler Oisín Mac Diarmada, they quickly gained notice as Best Traditional Newcomers (Irish Music Magazine) and were lauded for “keeping the traditional flag flying at full mast" by The Irish Times. Their vision and virtuosity has grown through two decades and six albums. Téada's last CD 'In Spite of the Storm' was hailed by The Irish Echo as "one of the outstanding releases in recent memory."
