Portland Police are thinking about changing the way they do traffic stops. In the wake of
George Floyd’s murder, police have been exploring ways to reduce racial disparity in law enforcement practices. Data shows black drivers are disproportionally affected by traffic stops. (KATU)

Faith leaders are working on 2 initiatives to reduce gun violence. One would ban the sale of large capacity magazines, while the other would ban the sale of assault-style weapons. Their movement, Lift Every Voice Oregon, hopes to have these measures on the November 2022 ballot. (KGW)

Portland City Commissioner Dan Ryan has announced a plan to build 6 managed villages for homeless individuals by the end of this year. There are not yet any firm details on the location or how many people they will serve. (OPB)

Oregon Legislature passed a bill that will help fire fighters receive compensation for
occupational hazards. House Bill 2915 presumes that death or disability caused by heart or lung disease are compensable diseases for career fire fighters. (The Skanner)

Andy Ngo confirms that he was the man who was chased and beaten in downtown Portland
last Friday. He tried to attend a protest in disguise, but was recognized and attacked, forcing him to seek shelter in The Nines hotel. (Willamette Week)

If you want to learn a little of Portland’s darker history, you should attend one of SinCity Portland Walking Tours, Shanghaied in Portland. They’ll tour some of Portland’s oldest streets and buildings, ending at VooDoo Donuts. (2:00 PM)
