Varro, K9 Veteran of Multnomah Sheriff's Office, Dies At 14
Varro spent about 10-years with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office before retiring in 2014. He died Sunday. He was 14-years-old.

PORTLAND, OR – In his almost decade with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, Varro searched hundreds of structures and tracked hundreds of suspects. Varro, who was a German Shepherd. He was a good boy.
Varro, who retired in 2014, died Sunday from complications from a stroke.
After arriving from overseas thanks to a grant, Varro received certification as a Patrol and Tracking K9 from the Oregon Police Canine Association and joined the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

In his time on the force, he was deployed nearly 1,000 times, searched more than 200 structures, and tracked hundreds of suspects.

The sheriff's office says he found them in attics, crawlspaces, blackberry bushes and even under water.
He recovered clothing, a pair of eyeglasses, firearms, knives, and other weapons.
When Varro retired, he continued to live with his partner, Sgt. Todd Weber, who then started working with Ranger, who arrived at the office from The Netherlands.
After Varro retired, the sheriff's office said that he was "enjoying retirement relaxing at home with the Weber family, mentoring Ranger (and we can only imagine) telling him stories about the Good Ol' Days."
Varro was at home with Weber and Ranger when he died.
