Bensalem High Freshman Dies Overnight
Counselors, social workers and extra mental health team members were available Wednesday at Bensalem High.

BENSALEM, PA — The day before Thanksgiving, members of the Bensalem High School community were mourning the death of a freshman student on Wednesday.
Douglas Slemmer passed away Tuesday evening, the Bensalem Township School District announced Wednesday in a social media post.
"It is with great sadness that I share that Douglas Slemmer, a member of the freshman class, passed away last evening," district Superintendent Samuel Lee said in a message to the school community. "His father shared how much Doug loved attending Bensalem High School and how successful and happy he was. The Slemmer family is grateful for the outpouring of support by the Bensalem community."

The school district did not provide details about the death. Obituary information was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
Counselors, social workers and extra mental health team members were available Wednesday at Bensalem High and will continue to be available next week, Lee announced. Families who are concerned about their child's response to the sudden death may contact a guidance officer at 215-750-2800, Ext. 3010.
