BENSALEM, PA — For the second year, Bensalem High School's robotics team will be hosing a district competition this month.

The FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Robotics Competition is scheduled for March 28-29 at Bensalem High School.

Last year, the Fightin' Robotic Owls were semi-finalists at the 2019 FIRST Robotics World Championship in Detroit after winning their division. Their coach compared the accomplishment to making the Final Four in the NCCA basketball tournament.

At this month's district competition, they'll host teams from Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.

FIRST stands for For Inspiration of Science and Technology. Founded in 2010, the organization's robotics competitions combine the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology.

Under strict rules and with limited resources, teams of students will have raised funds, built teams and built and programmed industrial-size robots that will play a field game against competitors at the competition.
