BENSALEM, PA — A Bensalem woman's ex-boyfriend tried to shoot her new boyfriend with a shotgun, then texted her taunting her about the shooting, according to police.

Jerome Tyrone Jordan, 29, whose address is unknown, was arrested the day after the shooting, which happened in October, with dozens of bags of marijuana in his car, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

His internet search history also showed that he had recently looked up what kind of damage shotgun blasts cause, prosecutors say.

Jordan is charged with criminal intent to commit homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering others in the Oct. 24 shooting at the Village Square Apartments in Bensalem, as well as being illegally in possession of a firearm after a 2014 robbery conviction.

The case was investigated by a Bucks County grand jury. Jordan has been in Bucks County Correctional Facility since his arrest on drug and firearm charges. He was arraigned on the new charges Friday and his bail now is set at 10 percent of $2 million.

"Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Bucks County’s Investigating Grand Jury, who are citizens just like you, another crime has been solved and another dangerous person will be made to answer for his violent criminal conduct," Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub said.

According to testimony, Jordan went to the apartment complex at about 10 a.m. on Oct. 24 to confront the man. After saying, "Say something now," he went into his car, got a shotgun, aimed it at the boyfriend and fired a single shot from about 20 feet away, according to the grand jury presentment.

Aside from the boyfriend, five other people were in the parking lot when the shotgun was fired. After the shooting, prosecutors say, Jordan got back into his car and drove away.

Bensalem Police arrested Jordan at his job the next day. He told officers that he was at the scene, but that someone else had fired the shotgun — naming someone who was already dead, according to the presentment.

Jordan gave police consent to search his car where, according to the DA's office, they found shotgun shells, dozens of bags of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. He was charged then with possession of the marijuana and ammunition.

While searching Jordan's phone, officers found several threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend, according to prosecutors. He talked about owning a shotgun in some of them and, in one, he wrote "Lucky I missed," they said.

Prosecutors say they also found the internet search about shotgun-blast damage while searching his computer.
