Bristol Road Closing For 6 Months In Bensalem
The closure Friday comes as PennDOT crews plan to demolish the Bristol Road overpass on U.S. 1 this weekend.
BENSALEM, PA — Bristol Road in Bensalem will be closed for about six months starting Friday, as crews continue roadwork on and around U.S. 1 in the area.
The closure comes as PennDOT crews plan to demolish the Bristol Road overpass, closing down U.S. 1 overnight on Saturday.
The highway will be closed between the Neshaminy and Business 1/Penndel interchanges. The closure will be from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, PennDOT announced.

During the overnight closure, through traffic on U.S. 1 will be detoured on Interstate 95 and Woodhaven Road (Rt. 63). Local traffic will follow posted detours around the area
PennDOT said some loud noise that could be heard in nearby neighborhoods is expected during the demolition. They say the work is being speeded up so it can be finished in one night and reduce long-term inconvenience to neighbors.

Replacing the Bristol Road overpass also will speed up the completion of all the roadwork being done in the area, officials said. The project now is scheduled to finish in late 2021, PennDOT said.
The section of Bristol Road between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard was shut down at 6 a.m. Friday and is expected to stay that way for roughly the next half-year. The road will be detoured on Neshaminy Boulevard, Rockhill Road and Old Lincoln Highway.
There will be more daytime and nighttime lane restrictions on U.S. 1 and Street Road next week for work as crews widen and improve U.S. 1.
Motorists using all roads in the area are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
The work happening now is part of a plan to rebuild 1.3 miles along U.S. 1. It is the second phase of a project to rebuild and widen U.S. 1, replace aging bridges and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Rt. 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.
